Justice System
Gibraltar Courts Service
The Gibraltar Courts Service was created in October 2010, bringing together the previously separate structures for the Supreme and Magistrates’ Courts. Budget and administrative staff responsibilities were previously shared between the judicial roles of the Registrar and the Clerk to the Justices. All these budget and staff responsibilities for the two courts are now unified and are the responsibility of the Chief Executive.
The Gibraltar Courts Service provides all the management and administrative support needed for essential service to court business. Without the need to deal with day-to-day administrative issues, members of the judiciary are able to focus their entire time on the management of court cases.
