Court Opening Hours
The Magistrates’ Courts and Supreme Courts normally sit between 10.00am to 1.00pm and between 2.15pm and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Sittings may extend beyond these times, depending on the volume and nature of court business on the day.
For the Magistrates’ Courts, Bank Holiday sittings may also take place to deal with overnight remand prisoners if required. For the Supreme Court, emergency out-of-hours matters are also dealt with as required.
The public entrance to the Supreme Court is located at 277, Main Street.
The public entrance to the Magistrates’ Court and the Coroner’s Court is located at 32-36, Town Range.
Public Counter Opening Hours
Both the Supreme Court Registry and the Magistrates’ Court public counters are located at 32-36, Town Range.
The Magistrates’ Court public counter deals with all matters relating to Magistrates’ Court hearings, maintenance payments, enquiries and fines payments. It also deals with all matters in relation to HM Coroner’s business.
The Supreme Court public counter deals with all matters relating to Supreme Court applications, enquiries and maintenance payments.
Both public counters share the same opening hours.
- Winter hours (mid-September to mid-June) between 9.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 3.45pm on Fridays.
- Summer hours (mid-June to mid-September) between 9.00am and 1.00pm.
At both public counters private consultation rooms are available, on request, to deal with confidential or sensitive matters.
